In Quebec among Francophones one is (or could be)
the “Poisson d’avril”… April’s “fish” rather than “fool”.
In addition to being the object of the same jokes and pranks practiced on the English side of things, some of us will today — unbeknownst to us — be walking around with fish stuck to our backs… until… of course… someone else notices and exclaims “Ha, ha. Poisson d’avril!”
